This is a nice starting weight set, and best of all it is totally expandable (I would guess you could get each bar up to 80lb or so). You can get more weights to complement the ones included at pretty much any sports store or mega store. As several other reviewers mentioned, one of the bars in my set was a bit longer than the other, though it doesn’t really affect anything…you just have to put the right bar in the right spot. There was a little grease/oil on the threads, and a very faint smell, but neither is bad. I keep them in my (small) bedroom, and the smell is barely noticeable. A little use removes any oil there might be on the handles. The grips on the handles are very rough and easy to grab.
Mine arrived in perfect condition, no chips/broken case etc. It also arrived on Friday, while the tracker predicted it would arrive the next Tuesday

Just got my dumbbell set today. I ordered through amazon directly. I am very Impressed with the quality of this set, if fact it’s nicer than the one at my local gym. I ordered December 26th 2011 and it arrived at my home January 4th 2012 which I thought was good considering the holiday season. Other reviewers have commented that there were extra handling charges to get the crate off of the truck, not for me, there were absolutely no shipping charges. Also others have complained about the smell of the rubber, well duh what do you expect these are brand new rubber coated dumbbells they are going to smell a little, but it’s not a bad smell at all, in fact I kind of like it, smells like a REAL weight room. Wipe them down with some disinfecting wipes and the smell will diminish with time. I ordered the body solid weight rack separate and the weights fit perfectly on the rack. Other reviewers have said that they had to overlap the weights on the bottom rack, not for me, the full set 5-50 lbs fits perfect! The best part about these is they will never become obsolete, never go out of style, and will last a lifetime.

I recently decided I needed to get into shape after looking at myself in the mirror a few too many times. With gym memberships at astronomical prices, I thought I’d look for a weight set that would suit my needs. When I found this CAP set, I knew I had found my new set. I have owned CAP weights before, and their solid construction had me coming back. The set, with dumbbells from 10 to 30 lbs, fit right within my budget and my weight range (I said I’m getting back into shape, don’t judge). The rubber coating is great for my wood floors as it does not scratch and the rack was very easy to set-up, with plastic guards to protect your floor and your weights from scratches. My one gripe is one of the hexagonal heads is off-set from the rest of the set giving the weight an awkward feel when resting on the floor, but nothing big other than aesthetics. All in all a very solid and budget friendly weight set that should last a long time.

I love these weights and am so glad I bought them. They are comfortable and easy to grip. They also come in a convenient holder, which makes them look neat in the living room, not out of place. This is also the most inexpensive set of weights I’ve ever seen, yet they are very well made and are great quality. I couldn’t believe the price on Amazon! Highly recommended. The box also comes with a “how-to” DVD and a chart of exercises. Great product! Personally, I use these weights with my collection of Jillian Michaels DVDs.
